Internship, Local History Collection, Greenfield Public Library

The Greenfield Public Library's Local History Room houses a significant collection of books and documents that were previously stored in suboptimal conditions, leading to damage. Thanks to a CPC grant, the library is undertaking a project to inventory, repair, and rehouse these unique historical items in a climate-controlled and preservation-friendly environment. This grant primarily covers the cost of a professional archivist and essential preservation supplies.
Intern Role:
-Rehouse collections with preservation supplies.
-Appraise collection for breadth and coverage of Greenfield local history and make suggestions for acquisition of new titles or weeding of
materials in accordance with the scope of collections statement.
-Label shelves to improve
access.
-Evaluate and make suggestions for adding data to catalog records where appropriate.
-Work with archivist to process and create catalog records for archival materials in the
collection.
