Somerville Archives Maps and Plans Digitization

We are seeking an intern who will help in our Maps and Plans Digitization Project. The plans collection represents one of the Archives’ largest collections. Over 10,000 plans, municipal, commercial, and residential. It also represents one of our most frequently used collections, making up approximately half of our offsite records requests. The Intern would be responsible for photographing the maps and plans, and producing the necessary metadata for upload to Preservica. The Intern would also be expected to digitize plans in response to reference requests by city stakeholders, which would be added to the preservation workflow. Over the course of this internship the intern will gain experience working on long-term backlog projects, implementing a digital preservation workflow, and adapting industry standards for preservation metadata.
