Project Details
Working closely with the archivist, this project will see the intern processing one to two largely unprocessed "legacy" church records collections. Legacy collections at CLA are collections which were received decades ago, and have catalog records, but have remained unprocessed or minimally processed. In the course of the project, the intern will have the opportunity to see how new collections are accessioned and appraised, to fully process a records collection according to national and local standards, and to create a finding aid and MARC catalog record using ArchivesSpace and other tools used by archivists and librarians. At the end of the project, the intern will have had firsthand experience with archival appraisal, arrangement, basic preservation practices, and description. The intern will be required to either write a communications post, such as for the CLA's newsletter, or present at a "brown-bag lunch" event.
