Project Details
The goal of this project is to arrange and describe file papers documenting civil and criminal cases heard by justices of the peace in Berkshire County, circa 1784-1848. The series includes two cubic feet of tri-folded files, bundled together roughly by Justice and date. The files need to be flattened, foldered, and possibly indexed by case as time allows. The intern will rehouse the files, create a folder list, write a scope and contents note for the series, and assist with ingesting descriptive metadata into the archives’ ArchivesSpace instance. The location of the internship is the Massachusetts Archives facility, 220 Morrissey Blvd., Boston.
