Site Description
The Bronx County Historical Society Research Center consists of the Research Library and the Bronx County Archives, both of which provide unparalleled resources for researching The Bronx, its history, and its peoples.

The Research Library contains an extensive collection of more than 198,000 books, pamphlets, still images, manuscripts and other paper ephemera, recorded sounds and moving images, and microfilm and microfiche. Located in the main office of the Historical Society at 3309 Bainbridge Avenue, across the street from the Museum of Bronx History, the library is intimate and accessible by bus and subway. It is a major resource center for high school and college students, artists, journalists, activists, government researchers, and scholars who have a need, or curiosity, to learn more about The Bronx.

The Bronx County Archives were established in 1974, when The Bronx County responsibility for nearly a million items across dozens of municipal collections. Since that date, the archival collections have grown considerably, both in number and in scope.
