Project Details
H. Donaldson Jordan (born 1897, died 1972) was a professor of English history at Clark University from 1931-1960. He received an A.B. in 1918, an A.M. in 1922, and a Ph.D. in 1925, all from Harvard and an L.H.D. from Clark in 1967. During World War I, Dr. Jordan served as an infantry lieutenant with the U.S. Army, following a tour of duty as an ambulance driver with the American Red Cross in France.
This summer we received a small donation (slightly more than one banker's box) of Jordan papers. The collection includes several diaries Jordan kept during WWI filled with handwritten entries, some typescript papers written while a student at Harvard, and a number of letters that he wrote home to his wife while he was in Europe.
The Simmons intern's job would be to process this collection of papers. If time allows, the intern may also work on digitizing materials from the collection for eventual addition to our Digital Commons.
