Project Details
New York Clipper Collection: This is a large collection of vaudeville act descriptions (including documents, images, posters, sheet music, etc.). The project would be to take a subset of the collection and conduct digitization, transcription through AI, data mining for sensitive/insensitive metadata subject terms, etc. activities. I would just note that this collection contains offensive content, an example being Blackface.

Katherine D. Bourne Papers: This is a more standard processing project for a very large collection. I don't think an intern would be be able to complete the entire collection so we would choose a few series for them to focus on. It would include preservation, rehousing, updating metadata, creating inventory lists, etc.

Emerson Course Catalogs: This is a digitization in which the intern would digitize our course catalogs going back to 1880, create metadata, and then ingest items into Digital Commons and JSTOR.
Reference: We would have the student work on reference requests, including both in-person and remote reference. We regularly work with students, faculty, and external researchers around the world. I think we would want to pair this with something else though so that they have something to do during slower times.
