Project Details
During the Fall 2025 semester, one student will work to arrange and describe the Lowry Pei papers at the Simmons University Archives. Lowry Pei (b. 1946) was a Professor of English at Simmons College (later Simmons University) from 1985 to his retirement in 2019. During Pei’s tenure at Simmons he taught literature and writing courses. He also served as Director of Writing (1985-1996), Director of the Multidisciplinary Core Course in writing (1996-1999), and Chair of the English Department (2002-2007). In addition to these roles, Pei participated in the General Education Design Team, and served as Chair of the College of Arts and Sciences Curriculum Committee and Chair of the ad hoc All-College Curriculum Committee. The collection documents Pei’s professional career; materials constitute 2.4 linear feet (2 record cartons). The student will be supervised by a member of the Simmons University Archives staff.
