Local History

Located at the Main Branch of a three branch system, the Local History Room was established by the bequest of Thomas Kilfoil, former head of Reference, to consolidate the Library's local history holdings from the branches into one site. The West Hartford Public Library, established by a donation from Noah Webster, has served the community for nearly 200 years and the Local History Collection reflects that rich history. Containing publications, manuscript and photographic collections, state and local maps, as well as genealogical resources, the Local History Room has been increasing in visibility over the last three years by increasing the accessibility of these collections and engaging in frequent outreach.
