Project Details
The Archive Department of the Archdiocese of Boston maintains several dozen collections of records from closed Catholic churches, many of which have never been processed. Records of closed parishes may include: blueprints and architectural drawings, parish bulletins, pulpit announcements, event booklets and ephemera, photographs, and administrative records. Interns are invited to choose a collection of about 5 linear feet to process; finding aids will be created through ArchivesSpace, with training provided to those who have never used the system.

Note: Though many collections contain materials exclusively in English, some parishes that served immigrant communities kept records in other languages. Interns who can read and understand Italian, Polish, Lithuanian, German, French, Portuguese, or Spanish and would like to work on records in these languages would be most welcome.
