Boston University Archives Historic Ledgers

This position is ideal for a student who is looking to expand their knowledge of archival processing, as well as metadata creation and management in ArchivesSpace. The field experience will be to work with approximately 20 of the oldest ledgers of the Trustees of Boston University (oldest ledger dated at 1869). The graduate student will assess the condition of these ledger books, document any significant conservation needed, and re-house them in appropriate custom enclosures for long-term storage. The student will create appropriate archival description in ArchivesSpace. The field placement also entails working with the Digital Ventures staff for a comprehensive materials review to prepare the works for eventual digitization (actual digitization is not a part of this 60-hour project).
