Project Details
In the 1950s, 60s and 70s, the advertising firm Gunn Associates, Inc. carried out a practice which is common among illustrators and graphic designers: clipping from magazines and newspapers the drawings and photographs which seemed interesting or useful, organizing these in a subject ordered file and referring to the file to find a visual starting-off point in order to develop an illustration for a client. William Gunn, the firm's founder and MassArt alum, designed the ordering system of the file and was it's primary creator, but the firm's staff both contributed to, and shared the use of the file.
