Project Details
The Department of Distinctive Collections (DDC) Processing Team invites an archives graduate student to contribute to a large description project of MC-0769 MIT Science Fiction Society’s Collection of Fanzines. The collection features hundreds of zines ranging in publication dates from the 1940s to the 2010s housed in 140+ boxes. The primary project of the internship will be to research and write 3-5 historical notes for the zines in the collection by consulting collection materials and online sources like ZineWiki and The Fanac Fan History Project. Other tasks will include processing a portion of the MIT SFS collection, researching and creating ArchivesSpace agent records for relevant individuals and organizations, and adding a page to DDC’s Omeka exhibit on the collection.
