Old books assessment project

The Farmington Room contains a large set of old books, some of which were part of the library's original collection and date back to the late 18th century. These books have been indexed and described by local historians and volunteers over the years. They are kept locked behind glass in wooden cabinets. Some are extremely fragile, and due to inconsistent preservation and conservation measures taken over the years, some are damaged. A few are potentially rare and valuable. While we plan to engage the services of a conservator to assess the condition of the books, we would also like to have someone go through the index and identify which of them are available in digitized form and/or easily accessible to the public.
