Boston Art Commission records

The Boston Art Commission (BAC), originally established in 1890, is the oldest municipal art commission in the United States. The BAC collection includes historic records on the planning, approval, and maintenance of public art in the City of Boston. Currently, the records are in need of a basic organizational structure to make them more accessible to users. Additionally, the records will need to be rehoused in proper archival storage containers. This internship requires the student to work with the archivist to physically reorganize the collection, rehouse the collection (including removal of staples, etc), and create a folder list for the collection. The student will work with the archivist to draft a historical note and scope and contents note for the collection's future finding aid.
