Project Details
Over the Spring 2025 term, the Simmons University Archives (SUA) seeks three field placement students from LIS 438 to complete traditional processing projects. All students will be managed by SUA staff–Kelsey Kolbet, University Archivist, and both Hannah Gershone and Zoe Johnson, Archives and Digital Initiatives Fellows.

Two students will work both independently and collaboratively to process Series II (Conferences and Presentations) of the Ching Chih-Chen papers. This project currently consists of 13 record cartons containing unprocessed textual materials collected by Chen (b. 1937) during her long career as a pioneering educator, practitioner, administrator, consultant, and speaker in the field of digital information management and technology. Chen played a significant role in professional conferences, most notably through a series of 12 international conferences on New Information Technology (NIT) from 1987-2001, and attended dozens of additional conferences both in the United States and internationally. Students working on this project will arrange and describe all materials, supporting SUA’s mission to make collections accessible to researchers both within and outside of the Simmons University community.
