Under the supervision of Lesley University Archivist, the SLIS student will assist in the organization, preservation, and digitization of archival materials, with a focus on Lesley’s audio-visual collection
Key Responsibilities:
1. Archival Processing and Preservation
• Assist in the arrangement, description, and cataloging of archival collections.
• Prepare finding aids and inventories for archival materials.
• Perform basic preservation tasks, such as rehousing materials in acid-free folders and boxes.
• Assist in identifying and addressing preservation needs of fragile or damaged items.
2. Digitization:
• Scan and digitize photographs, documents, and other archival items.
• Develop a workflow and digitize audio-visual materials
• Assist in the development of metadata for digital collections.

Requirements
• Strong interest in history, library science, information management, or related fields.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel).
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to perform repetitive tasks, such as scanning and data entry, for extended periods.
