Project Details
The Providence College Archives and Special Collections has two distinct project for an advanced student, depending on their desired field experience.
Project 1: The intern will work with the head of the department and reference archivist in a variety of outreach and engagement projects, including to develop and curate an exhibit using the Providence College collections based on the interns interests, subject knowledge, and needs of the department. The intern will also support the teaching and learning mission of the archives by supporting course instruction sessions, participating in archives outreach programming, assisting with research appointments, creating collection and research guides and other supports for general researchers, faculty, and students.
Project 2: The intern will work with the head of the department and the collections archivist to describe and process recently digitized audiovisual materials from a selection of PC college records and special collections. This project will include a variety of metadata, transcription, and archival description work. The intern will follow the guidelines provided,
In both options, the intern will also be able to experience other aspects of the department, depending on their schedule and the schedule of events and work in the ASC. All internship hours must be completed onsite and during the regular business hours of the department: Monday through Friday 8:30-4:30pm.
