We appreciate your commitment to supporting and mentoring the future of our libraries, archives, and cultural heritage institutions.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #003366\">Please use the drop-down menu above or the following links to learn more about the two SLIS courses that include curricular field experiences: <a href=\"https:\/\/slis.simmons.edu\/blogs\/fieldexperiences\/?page_id=47\">LIS 438<\/a> (Introduction to Archival Theory and Practice, 60 hours) and <a href=\"https:\/\/slis.simmons.edu\/blogs\/fieldexperiences\/?page_id=45\">LIS 512<\/a> (Advanced Field Experience in LIS, 130 hours).&nbsp; You&#8217;ll find a guide to our <a href=\"https:\/\/slis.simmons.edu\/blogs\/fieldexperiences\/?page_id=392\">Field eXperience Management System<\/a>; as well as information about placements, projects, evaluations, and course snapshots for both our introductory archives course and advanced LIS field experience course.<\/span>  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Your Role and Responsibilities<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>As a supervisor, you will act as a mentor and field instructor. &nbsp; We expect that you will be available to students for questions, guidance, and casual conversation about the profession and your work.&nbsp; Supervisors will also be prompted via email to complete 2 student evaluations (midpoint and final) which are considered by course instructors in the student\u2019s final course grade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Generally, the first several days require more of your time to orient the student to both the site and the project(s) you have designed.&nbsp; After initial training and introductions, the student often works more independently.&nbsp; You are free to establish schedules and meetings with the student as you see appropriate, as long as the required hours are completed within the given semester\u2019s time frame.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We do not require compensation for curricular field experiences.\u00a0 However, if you have the funds to compensate a student, or your institution requires compensation, you may pay your student.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Get In Touch<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>Please email us at slisfieldexp@simmons.edu with any questions!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Thank you for hosting a Simmons student, or your willingness to do so!
