There is no midterm nor final exam for this course. The class contains 3 assignments (4 for doctoral students), and 1 term project. Check course schedule for the due dates. Class attendance and participation are expected.

Note: Without proper excuse, late assignments would get 2 points deducted per day after the due day.
I. Assignments: (50%)

- Assignment 1involves identifying a topic that is covered in this class as outlined through the course syllabus. Conduct a literature search on the topic, based on which you will develop an annotated bibliography of 10-15 related publications on the topic.
- Assignment 2 includes two stages: (1) Compose an opinion paper on what information science is, how it relates to one other field of your choice, and what is your vision of the future of information science. Further envision your future role in this field.
(2) At the end of the semester, add a final reflection to think back about your initial opinion paper, and reflect any changes of your initial vision of the field and yourself. - Assignment 3 is a team assignment. During the semester, you will be working with a classmate and select one individual theory or model on information behavior and information interaction (spread over a few weeks of semester) and present in class.
- Assignment 4 is for doctoral students. For this assignment, doctoral students will develop a conceptual framework relevant to their upcoming doctoral research. Master’s student may obtain extra credit if they develop a conceptual framework for their future scholarly interests

II. Term Project: Information Science Person Biographic Research Team Project (40%)
For this project, you will be working with another classmate to conduct a biographic research study on an information science person.You will first identify and conduct research on an Information Science Person, then perform an interview with the person.
Details will be available on the project sheet.
III. Participation: (10%)
Class participation includes attendance of class sessions, contributing to the class discussion and presentations, and participating and contributing in every step of the usability term project.
