Dean Em Claire Knowles, Dean Emeritus Mich\u00e8le Cloonan, Dr. Joseph Stanley, Professor Lisa Hussey, and Maggie Anderson will answer your questions about how to choose and apply for a program, how to finance it, and how to make study abroad a meaningful part of your SLIS education.<br \/>\nBring your questions and please join us on October 19th at 4:30pm in the Collaboratory. Light refreshments will be served. The SLIS Media Lab will be recording the event for online students and others who can&#8217;t attend. Media Lab recordings are typically posted to their YouTube channel (<a href=\"bit.ly\/slistechyoutube\">bit.ly\/slistechyoutube<\/a>) within a week or two of the event. We will also link to it from our Facebook page.<\/p>\n<p><b>*ASIS&amp;T &#8211; Coders Without Borders <\/b><br \/>\n6:00 pm to 8:00 pm &#8211; Collaboratory<br \/>\nCS and LIS students are encouraged to attend the first CWB gathering to work on non-school related projects and be in the company of the SLIS Tech staff members and other colleagues doing the same thing. CWB will take place every other Monday at the same time and location.\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size:16px\"><b>Tuesday October 20th:<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<p><b>*Public Lecture Series &#8211; Jim Matarazzo and Toby Pearlstein<\/b><br \/>\n12:00 pm to 1:00 pm &#8211; Collaboratory<br \/>\nCorporate Libraries: Bellwether of Change for the Library World at Large The lessons learned from the increasing closures of corporate libraries that began in the 1980s can be applied to the wider library community. These closures have accelerated since the 1990s due to corporate cost cutting measures and the ever increasing availability of internet services that bypass the information professional. What I really, really want?<br \/>\nWe have a great line up of panelists from great local companies at our Career Night next Wednesday to help answer those questions and more! It&#8217;s pretty informal (quite chill, actually) and they&#8217;ll be pizza. Guests include: Abby Howell, Wistia, Genni Mushlin, Akami, Jason Squatrito and Anisha Smith, Ezcater, and Elisa Aigamaua, Twitter. Genni and Elisa are Simmons Alums! Abby was part of our Hackathon!
