How do I subscribe\/unsubscribe from the LISSA email listserv?<\/h2>\n
Every student at SLIS is automatically subscribed to the LISSA listserv (through their Simmons email)! To unsubscribe, go to lists.simmons.edu<\/a> and log in with your Simmons email and password. On the left hand side of the page should be a box labeled \u201cYour Lists\u201d where the lissa listserv should be included. Click on \u201clissa\u201d. Again on the left hand side of the page you should see a box with a link to \u201cUnsubscribe\u201d.<\/p>\n
Can I change my advisor?<\/h2>\n
Absolutely! Many students don’t know until it’s too late that they can change advisors at any time, for any reason – not just if you switch concentrations. Just follow these steps:
\n1. Check this list of available advisors and their subject specialties<\/a> to find someone who will best fit your academic interests.
\n2. Don’t hesitate to reach out to them for guidance via email and to ensure they are available to meet your needs.
\n3. Fill out the Change of Advisor\/Change of Program form<\/a>\u00a0and return to the Student Services Center window or email SSCslis@simmons.edu<\/a>.<\/p>\nWho else can I ask for advice while I’m in school?<\/h2>\n
LIS students are a resourceful bunch – reach out to your peers on the Facebook groups, SLIS Current Students<\/a>\u00a0(for candid questions and responses about the program) and SLIS Just Wants to Have Fun<\/a>\u00a0(for fun, LIS-related stuff or events).<\/p>\n
SLIS also sponsors a Mentorship Program<\/strong> that pairs you with alums across the country. Feel free to contact any of the available mentors<\/a> directly, or refer questions to Em Claire Knowles.<\/p>\n
