Here in Paris, the GSLIS 2014 study abroad folk have been treated to many nice amenities, including group dinners and metro passes, not to mention the field trip for our classes! However, there is one treat that surpasses the rest: the museum pass. We were each given a museum pass for a total of seven days that allows entry (and re-entry) into a host of museums across Paris. Some of the places we have access to include the Musee D’Orsay, the Musee de Cluny (home of the famous Lady and the Unicorn Tapestries!), the Eiffel Tower, the Arc di Triomphe, and, of course, the Louvre.

Yesterday, four of us made our way to the Louvre. Some had already been inside twice and were going back for a third time to just soak up the glory. Just about everyone in the group has managed to make it to the Napoleon Apartments. We were duly awed, although Marya was a bit tired of seeing so much gold after our trip to Versailles :-). Here are some pics of the apartments as well as of the artworks within them:

There were crystal chandeliers everywhere, embroidered fabric covering the walls, chairs that were too beautiful to sit upon, and gold accents bedecking every door. Napoleon the III was a lucky man (well, until he was captured, deposed, and exiled to England).

Here are a few more pics from the Louvre that must be included!

This is just the way the Louvre looks inside—gorgeous.

There is simply so much more that just cannot fit into a single blog post. I think the Louvre will go down in our books as one of the chief highlights. Thank you, museum pass!
