It’s been a very busy time ever since the classes started in the second week of September. The two classes are keeping me very busy, and I really need to squeeze time for research. The course prep takes most of my time not only because I am new to NTU and have to figure everything out including working with the NTU course management system CEIBA, connecting with usability class site supervisors, and arranging for usability lab use and training.
The doctoral class takes also a lot of my time since it is a new class and I need to refresh some of the theories I know and learn the new theories that I did know. The class is on user behavior research: theories and metrics. A lot of cognitive science stuff including perception, attention, imagination, conception, reasoning, mental models (which I know a lot), and more. My weekends pretty much have been spent on prep for the doctoral class (and usability class, too, of course). The usability course requires a lot of coordinating, arranging for teams (with a total of 36 students and several auditing), and of course the use policy of the usability lab (newly built for my class) and more.
I just realized that I have not shown you “my” NTU usability lab here. Here are some photos of the lab and me in the lab.
- Usability lab — two sets of computers running Morae (there are also two document camera that you don’t see here)

Got to prep for my Usability class which will be this afternoon 1:20-4:20pm.
Cheers,
Rong
