Today is the mid-autumn festival (a.k.a., moon festival), and we get a holiday break of today and tomorrow. This holiday is rather big, so people in Taiwan have been known to BBQ during the holiday. However, there is Typhoon Usagi looming around, making it difficult to cook outside.
I decided to take today off and check out Taipei 101. Taipei 101 was the world’s tallest building that has 101 floors. It has the world’s fastest elevator. When I went there, there was sunshine but then when I returned, it was pouring rain. But I had such a great time inside Taipei 101 that I think I will come back again when there is a chance in the future.
Below are some pictures I took during my visit there.

- The Welcome Sign on the 89th floor of the Observatory

Also, this past Monday, I had the pleasure to have lunch with two retired NTU LIS faculty but both are teaching now as an adjunct faculty. Both Professor Zheng (my office mate) and Professor Lu got their graduate degrees from the US (Zheng from Drexel and Lu from Univ of Chicago) and worked in the US for a good number of years then returned to Taiwan. It was great chatting with them. And I really liked the food in that Japanese restaurant. Below is a picture of three of us. From the left, Prof. Zheng, me, and Professor Lu.
I really enjoyed my day off today, even though it is raining very hard outside.
Happy Moon Festival! May all the families from all over the world be able to unit today and celebrate family.
Until next time.
