After a long day of hiking and palace adventures, we finally had the opportunity to sit down with our amazing hosts here at Yonsei and have a delicious Korean meal! There were so many side dishes that they would hardly fit on the large tables. Take a look at this sweet spread:
Obviously there were several types of kimchi (I honestly thought that the obsession with kimchi might be a bit of a stereotype – but it definitely is NOT), lotus root, potatoes, squash, bulgogi, nori mushrooms, and my favorite – pumpkin! The Korean students taking Lisa’s Management class joined us for dinner and were so helpful in explaining the different dishes and encouraging us to try new things. We also got to meet Jee Yeon and her brilliant daughter Sue who have been working hard over the past few months to help organize this trip. I had been e-mailing back and forth with her since January so it was wonderful to finally meet her. We also go to meet Dr. Moon who is the Dean of the Library School. He was a lot of fun and taught us about the Korean beers. Here are some photos:
The dinner was a huge success, and we received some awesome, and much needed gifts – a fan and a towel! They have definitely been very useful walking around this steep campus. We made so many friends and the students have been kind enough to show us around Seoul this past week. We are all looking forward to spending even more time with them. What a great evening!
