Day One
We visited a library in the small town of Tipitapa today. It?s an all-volunteer effort, and most of the volunteers are teen-agers who help to bring books to children living at the dump. Check out their blog: http://bibliotecatipitapa.blogspot.com/
Day Two
Today we traveled to Isla de Ometepe, a volcanic island surrounded by shark infested waters! We?re going to the brand-new library here tomorrow.
Day Three
The kids at the Ometepe library had a lot of fun today with the crafts and the pinata. It was definitely a success.
Day Four
We are in Granada, Nicaragua today. It?s a beautiful city. The hotel we are staying in, Hotel Con Corazon, donates space for a reading corner where school children can come for stories and crafts. It?s one part of a library program in Granada called Puedo Leer.
