Or have you conducted research using focus groups or a Delphi method?  &#8220;Crowdsourcing&#8221; and &#8220;collaboration&#8221; are important concepts in research and ideation (idea generation).<\/p>\n<p>Join Simmons ASIS&amp;T and the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simmons.edu\/gslis\/academics\/programs\/doctoral\/phd-lis\/index.php\" title=\"GSLIS Doctoral Program\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"broken_link\">GSLIS Doctoral Program<\/a> for a presentation about Group Ideation and Deliberation Activities.  Dr. Lu Xiao will discuss four projects (completed and ongoing) about understanding and supporting group ideation and deliberation activities.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>The first project looks at the effects of knowing <strong>other members&#8217; rationales<\/strong> in <strong>small group ideation<\/strong> activities.<\/li>\n<li>The second project examines the effects of knowing <strong>previous workers&#8217; rationales<\/strong> in ideation activities through online crowdsourcing (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mturk.com\/mturk\/welcome\" title=\"Amazon's Mechanical Turk\" target=\"_blank\">Amazon&#8217;s Mechanical Turk<\/a>).<\/li>\n<li>The third project focuses on <strong>understanding<\/strong> and <strong>supporting<\/strong> small group deliberation.<\/li>\n<li>The fourth project studies <strong>large-scale online deliberation<\/strong> (<a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion\" title=\"Wikipedia's Articles for Deletion discussions\" target=\"_blank\">Wikipedia&#8217;s Articles for Deletion discussions<\/a>) and explore a computational linguistic approach to facilitate deliberation processes and improve deliberation outcome.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Light refreshments will be served.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Lu Xiao is an <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fims.uwo.ca\/peopleDirectory\/faculty\/fulltimefaculty\/full_time_faculty_profile.htm?PeopleId=121735\" title=\"Dr. Lu Xiao\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"broken_link\">assistant professor<\/a> at the University of West Ontario in London, Ontario. Her research group is the <a href=\"http:\/\/hci.fims.uwo.ca\/\" title=\"Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) Lab\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"broken_link\">Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) Lab<\/a> at the Faculty of Information &amp; Media Studies (FIMS).
