As part of\u00a0Open Access Week<\/a><\/em>, the\u00a0Simmons ASIS&T Student Chapter<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Dr. Robin Peek<\/a>\u00a0are pleased to welcome\u00a0Dr. Peter Suber<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0to GSLIS for an engaging, student-centered discussion on open access.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Dr. Suber<\/strong>\u00a0is the Director of the\u00a0Harvard Open Access Project<\/a>, Faculty Fellow at the\u00a0Berkman Center for Internet & Society<\/a>, Senior Researcher at\u00a0SPARC<\/a>, Open Access Project Director at\u00a0Public Knowledge<\/a>, and Research Professor of Philosophy at\u00a0Earlham College<\/a>. \u00a0He\u00a0recently published a new book titled\u00a0Open Access<\/a><\/em>.\u00a0 (Hint: The first chapter is already open access!)<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Dr. Peek<\/strong>\u00a0is an associate professor in the Graduate School of Library and Information Science (GSLIS) at Simmons College.\u00a0 An early advocate of the Open Access movement, she is the co-founder and editor of the\u00a0Open Access Directory<\/a>\u00a0and currently teaches a GSLIS course focused on open access and scholarly communications.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Join us for an exciting conversation about a topic critical to information science!<\/p>\n <\/p>\n All are welcome!<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0While the focus of this event will be on GSLIS students, all members of the GSLIS community and of the general public are welcome!<\/p>\n <\/p>\n
