We are very excited to announce that our Simmons GSLIS chapter has been named as ASIS&T 2011 Student Chapter of the Year for the second year running!<\/p>\n

Richard Hill, the ASIS&T Executive Director, wrote:<\/p>\n

Simmons had a very successful year, hosting a number of heavily attended
\nevents, with some well known names, including Peter Suber and Nicole Hennig.
\nThey worked with NEASIS&T to host an event on the Simmons campus in March on
\nContent Management Systems, with a very large turnout of current GSLIS
\nstudents, faculty, and staff, as well as NEASIS&T members.<\/p>\n

Simmons recorded and podcasted many of their events, which are now available
\non the GSLIS podcast web site, so the content and supplementary materials of
\nevents would be available to community members who were not able to attend
\nin person.<\/p>\n

They have a very active listserv with over 300 GSLIS community members,
\nincluding current students, faculty, staff, and alums. They created an
\nASISTboard listserv so that student leaders can come together in a virtual
\nenvironment to plan events for the year. Their strong leadership as well as
\nclose knit bond with the GSLIS community and now with our local NEASIS&T
\nchapter, has opened the door to many exciting opportunities in the near
\nfuture.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
