It\u2019s free and open to everyone \u2013 not just coders \u2013 so mark your calendars for March 29th and 30th, and <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/forms\/d\/e\/1FAIpQLSdholHPncSnkt_l15lVswf-CjB5fuptMfYjXIJ4sLNfKzrXJQ\/viewform\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">sign up<\/a> with your friends. Our goal is to develop a new search engine for research in the humanities based on a technique called <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Concept_search\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">concept search<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>What\u2019s a <em>hackathon?<\/em> It\u2019s an event that brings together computer programmers, library-information specialists, web designers, graphic designers, and humanists to collaborate intensively on a single project. We\u2019re sending this invite to relevant groups around Boston area. We need a lot of people who are interested in computer science and the humanities. Ideally, some of you will have a foot in both disciplines. The test-corpus that we\u2019ll be using is drawn from the period of the American Revolution, so, for you humanists out there, be sure to <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/forms\/d\/e\/1FAIpQLSdholHPncSnkt_l15lVswf-CjB5fuptMfYjXIJ4sLNfKzrXJQ\/viewform\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">sign up<\/a> if you have any interest in the eighteenth century!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Where?<\/strong> Cabot Library, <a href=\"https:\/\/maps.google.com\/?q=1+Oxford+Street,+Cambridge,+MA&amp;entry=gmail&amp;source=g\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">1 Oxford Street, Cambridge, MA<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>When?<\/strong> March 29th at 3pm until March 30th at 3pm<\/p>\n<p><strong>Extra Enticements?<\/strong> We\u2019ll provide free food throughout the event, and there will also be hundreds of dollars of prizes in the form of Amazon gift cards.
