Welcome to Barb! The Mary Barbara Shields Scrapbook, 1931-1935!

Mary Barbara Shields attended Simmons College from 1931-1935, graduating with a degree in English. During her time at Simmons, she was an active participant in collegiate sports and student groups, activities that her scrapbook does its best to encapsulate.

Mary Barbara Shields' scrapbook was digitized as part of the ongoing Notable Women of Simmons College Digital Project, which captures and makes accessible the lives of early Simmons College women. Barb’s scrapbook provides a glimpse into both Simmons College history and important events of the early twentieth century through a wide array of images, primary documents, and objects. What’s more, it allows users a rare chance to discover the life of a 1930s college student.
