About Alice

Photograph of Alice in costume

While the scrapbook focuses largely on her time at Simmons College, Alice Morris Walker led an adventurous and eventful life both before and after her collegiate years as well. Prior to her arrival at Simmons, Alice was raised in Shanghai, China, where her parents worked as missionaries. After graduating from Simmons, Alice returned to China where she held several positions as a librarian. She later left China to travel and live all over the world.

If you want to know more about Alice, you can learn about her personal life in the Biography section; if you're interested in her career as a librarian please visit the Library Science section. Information about the experiences of Alice and other young women at Simmons College in the 1930s can be found in Life at Simmons.
