Transcription: Continuing - "Autumn Crocus" -- At the Hollis Street, for the second and final week, C. L. Anthony comedy drama, "Autumn Crocus," continues its Boston engagement. The play, already successful in London and New York, is a wistful, rather rambling but agreeable story of a prim little schoolmistress in her 30's who, while on a holiday in the Tyrol, falls in love with a handsome young innkeeper and would stay with him, were it not that he has a wife and child, and that her older and wiser companion points out the dangers of such unconventional action. The fragile romance passes in a picturesque little inn where a variety of travellers, comic and otherwise, have gathered, to gossip, to sing and to discuss the problems of life. There is an earnest young couple, seriously living in sin; there is a meek clergyman and his spinster sister: there are hearty German mountain climbers and others. The atmosphere is pleasantly informal, the comedy is gentle, the dialogue catches a nostalgic flavor. To the roles of the teacher and the innkeeper, Mabel Taliaferro bring understanding and skill.
